Hi, I’m Jen

I’m a traveller and online content creator from England. Although I’m English I have actually lived more outside of England than in it. I grew up in a town near Amsterdam in The Netherlands where I attended International Schools so I’ve always been very influenced by other cultures and languages around me. Being in a class with students from over 30 different countries has that effect on you. Another big influence for me growing up was my amazing grandfather who traveled around the world, from Antarctica to Australia he was always off on an adventure or sailing his yacht to faraway lands. I used to sit on his knee and listen to his travel stories with my mouth open in amazement & he definitely sparked my love for all things travel from a very young age.

After travelling to Turkey for a Summer job in 2007, I met my now husband and moved to a seaside resort on the Aegean coast of Turkey. In 2011 I bought an iPhone 3GS, downloaded an app called Instagram and documented my travels around Turkey, editing & uploading them to Instagram.

These days pretty much everyone sells their presets on Instagram, but we were the very first people to do that in the form of an editing app. My Husband is an app developer so in 2012 he created Deluxe FX app for editing your travel photos on the go. We turned Instagram into a full time job then and started to work with hotels, brands and tourism boards around the world to showcase amazing destinations and countries.

My most asked Questions…

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I’m English! I was born in Essex, grew up in The Netherlands, moved to Turkey and now home is back in the beautiful countryside of West Sussex on the South Coast of England.

WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?

A Sony a74 and a Sony a7c for all of my photos and some of my videos. I also my iPhone 15 pro for 99% of my video content as thats the one I always have with me!

WHAT DO YOU EDIT YOUR PHOTOS WITH?

I use Lightroom and my own ‘izkiz’ app which is available on the Apple App Store. It has filters and overlays perfect for all your travel photos.

WHAT DOES IZKIZ MEAN?

When I started instagram in 2011 I wanted a short, catchy name. It’s random but ‘iz’ comes from the first 2 letters of the city in Turkey that I was living in & ‘Kiz’ meaning girl in Turkish.

Coffee, a good book and every shade of blue stretching out across the Ionian Sea. The kind of place you come for a quick stop and end up staying far longer than planned. 🩵

Summer in Salcombe ⛵️🦀🐚 Pastel houses, little stre Summer in Salcombe ⛵️🦀🐚 Pastel houses, little streets tumbling down towards the water, kids crabbing along the quayside, boats bobbing in the harbour, hidden coves and some of the bluest water you’ll find on the English coast. On a sunny day, this little corner of South Devon is hard to beat…

A few things to add to your Salcombe list:

🥐 Breakfast at The Winking Prawn, start the day by the sea at this Salcombe favourite, right by North Sands.

⛵ Take the ferry to East Portlemouth and spend the day hopping between the little beaches across the estuary

🏖️ Swim at North Sands & South Sands for a proper Salcombe beach day

🥾 Walk a stretch of the South West Coast Path for some seriously beautiful coastal views

🚤 Get out on the water – hire a boat, kayak or paddleboard and explore the estuary

🍦 Grab a Salcombe Dairy ice cream and wander around the harbour

🍸 Try Salcombe Gin – made right here in town

🛍️ Explore Fore Street for independent shops, cafés and little galleries

🦀 Eat by the water – preferably with seafood, chips and something cold in hand

🌅 Stay for golden hour when the crowds disappear and the whole harbour starts to glow

Turns out you don’t always need to get on a plane to find that summer feeling. 🇬🇧

Folegandros in every shade of blue 💙🩵 This island Folegandros in every shade of blue 💙🩵

This island is small, wild and wonderfully laid-back. There are no big resorts or endless lists of attractions here, which is exactly the point. Rent a car, beach hop, wander around Chora with absolutely no plan and spend far too long over dinner in one of its little squares.

A few things not to miss:

⛪️ Walk the zigzag path up to the Church of Panagia for one of the best views on the island
💦 Swim in the ridiculously clear water at Agios Nikolaos, Agali & Katergo
🥾 Take the coastal path from Agali to Agios Nikolaos… or do what we did and get the five-minute boat 🙃
🤍 Get lost in Chora’s whitewashed lanes, colourful doors and bougainvillea-filled courtyards
🏰 Wander through the Kastro, the oldest part of Chora, where houses were built into the old fortress walls
🚙 Rent a car and go hunting for tiny coves, viewpoints and corners of the island you’d otherwise never see
🍽️ Claim a table in one of Chora’s little squares and let dinner turn into drinks turn into “how is it midnight already?”
🌅 Head up high for sunset because Folegandros really knows how to show off when the sun goes down

Athens is a bit like Marmite. People seem to eithe Athens is a bit like Marmite. People seem to either absolutely love it or really, really don’t… and I am firmly in the love camp. 🇬🇷

Yes, it’s chaotic, a little rough around the edges and definitely not the prettiest European city at first glance, but that’s kind of what I love about it. Ancient ruins casually sitting between busy streets, little neighbourhood tavernas, rooftop bars overlooking the Acropolis, incredible food, late nights and that unmistakable Athens energy.
Every time I come back, I like it even more.

A few postcards from one of my favourite city breaks in-between ferry hopping to islands. 💙

🏛️ Visit the Acropolis & Parthenon
🌿 Wander through Plaka & Anafiotika
🍽️ Eat your way around the city at local tavernas
🌅 Watch sunset from Lycabettus Hill
🍸 Have drinks at a rooftop bar overlooking the Acropolis
